Tim, Pam's daughter ??? and Randy showed up. After 15 mins of stretching on our own, I started some basics. Started out doing stance training, trying to get long and low, but started out just trying to make sure you bring your knees close and powering off the back heal. All basics after that, keep your focus on your stance. Lung, rising, inward , out ward, back stance , spent some time on that. Then snap and side thrust. 45 mins on basics.. Short break and them Heian katas. Tekki sho-dan twice and ni-dan once. Then Randy worked with ??? and I worked with Tim.
Tim is working on Heian yan-dan. His biggest challenge was side snap. Him and I worked on it for 10 mins or so... I told him we needed someone else's input, as he was not getting what I was showing and telling.. After class we brought it up to Randy and worked another 10 mins with Tim... I think he got it, with Randy's input and my hand as a target, he was able to flip the leg and hip in the right direction and it looked much better.. We will see how he does next week...
On the way home, at the corner to heading towards the Pekin bridge, looks like a young man in an old truck was booking it around the corner (it was wet due to rain) and ended up with his front end wrapped around one the RR crossing things... A county sheriff was already there and the kids was calling someone in his cell...
Rest of rainy day has been pretty laid back. Week at work has been long, so today's down time is good.
Last week I was off on Rolling Temporary Lay Off (RTLO).. The first Sunday off, back problem came around while fishing with the Grandboys... They were not fishing, but they were there.... anyway.. saw the chiro 3 times... last one on Saturday seem to stick.
Went to Karate for the first time in 2 weeks... taught a couple of white belts. Sensei Quinn taught the 5 red belts and 1 purple and Mike-san. Sensei Brewer watched while he nursed his sprained ankle. Last nights workout, second class was somewhat light, but challenging. At end of class I had a good sweat going and it felt good... Not sure if the back is going to give out on me or not.. Prob need to take it a bit more easy on Thursday night.. But that is hard when you are there.....
Work has been busy.. and will get busier. I am a working team lead over 5 other people. One team of 3 do registration and one, a high school soon to be grad, will be leaving at end of the month... that team down to 2. Currently there are three support people, one of them being me... One is now off until June 1st. We will do fine...
Enough for now.
Last I purchased a new/used 2008 Vibe with 23k miles for Dunlap Motors (if you are looking for a used care, that is the place to go!). The Impala was having some problems that were going to cost me $1100 and Bob gave me a deal I couldn’t refuse. So the problem is, the Impala title is in a safe that I can’t open. I have either forgotten the combination or there is an internal malfunction (I am betting on the first). So, I had to call a locksmith to unlock or drill it to open it.
Monday: MLK Day - a holiday from work… wrong, spend a good 4 hours trying to catching some things up. Life at work has changed for me. I was the team lead. I am now a team member. We will lose the last very knowledge person of the three I use to be “leader” of. Oh, I am still the team leader, but I don’t have much time for that at the moment. Don’t have enough time in general.
Also, the locksmith came. He played with the save for at least 45 minutes and said he would have to return to drill it, he forgot his scope. I got the safe from my grand mother after her passing. The safe was open and I had to figure out the combo. I opened and closed it for many years.. then one day it would not open… thus the locksmith. He is coming back on Saturday.
Tuesday: Uneventful busy day at work. Karate workout followed. I always look forward to my workouts as a good stress reducer and to keep the old body moving. Towards end of work out, was asked to teach at Mapleton. As much as I was will, my stomach was telling me something else. Erby-san said to call him if I came down sick. When I got home, the gut ache just continued to get worse.
Wednesday: Had a very lousy night sleeping due to gut ache and it continued. I worked from home that day. By mid day, the gut seemed to start settling down and by end of day felt better. We also found out the Jenny was going to deliver via C-section the following morning and that Sharon needed to be at their home to bring Jaelyn to the hospital at 7am. Jenny needed to be there at 5am for prep. So, another restless and short night lay ahead. I was exhausted from day and night before… but was feeling better.
Thursday: Day began at 3:45 so Sharon could be there for Jaelyn by 5am. I did manage to sleep a little more, getting up at 5:30. We arrive at OSF at 7am (or so). Saw Jenny for a bit and then were sent to the waiting room. Jacey was delivered at 7:58 and we saw her some time there after. I took video of the first hour in the nursery and also pictures. Jenny came to her room (who knows / remembers) after 9. Sharon and I left for work about 11:15.
At work, we met our new boss, as old one took the buyout and is retiring. Later that afternoon, I got to speak face to face. I told him how busy we currently were with ticket back log and trying to answer email, phone calls and problem tickets. I learned a little more about his plans for his new group of people and how it might impact me. I am excited about things to come. It will be a challenging year in many ways.
On the way home, I stopped and filled up the Vibe. First fill up to be able to check gas mileage. It was sitting at about ¾ empty mark. It took a whole 8.6 gals of gas for 233 miles of driving.. That came to about 27 mpg!!! Made my day!
We returned to the hospital after work. Jacey was still confined to nursery due to what were minor problems. Jaelyn was exausted and sad about not being able to hold her new baby. The second shift nurses invited her in to nursery to view and touch Jacey. She had to wear a mask and gloves, but this made her day! By 7pm, I was just totally exhausted from the last two day and we finally went home. I posted pictures and crashed by 10pm…
Friday: It was not a very productive day for tickets. New boss invited any and all to go with him for lunch, which being both of my lunch partners were not going to be there, I took the opportunity. There were a total of 4 of us. In the conversation I found out that my boss is my son’s age. I have no problem with this, but it was a funny fact.
That afternoon we had a retirement recognition, were at least 15 or 20 people were being recognized for the time and service to the company. All we be gone at the end of the month, with a total of about 260 will be retiring. Of all in that group, there were only 2 or 3 with more service time then me. Most had between 30 and 35. I will have 39 this June. Now a am wondering what I am doing, staying…
We returned to the hospital last for a few more hours.
So, it has been a long week. Now I wake up this morning with a sore throat.. damn. Missed karate workout and am waiting for the Locksmith.. who just called… Bobby’s pine wood derby is taking place now (its noon). He took forth place. Not bad.
The locksmith drilled the safe! I had one number right, but it was the second number not the first… I recommend Peoria Lock and Safe if you have a lock problem. Bill is very good and at a fair price. He only charged $140 to open the safe. I will need to sand down the patch area and re-paint it. Time to head back to the Hospital.
